A US colleague in the Sydney Marathon

I do not normally cover sport on my website but I make an exception in this case because of the person involved and her significant achievements in the sport of marathon running.

Judge Elizabeth Stong has been a judge for over 20 years on the US Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New York, in Brooklyn.

My colleague Dr Amanda Bull and I met her during our recent meetings at the World Bank in Washington and at UNCITRAL in New York.  Elizabeth was very generous with her time in explaining to us the American bankruptcy system and allowing us to sit in on her bankruptcy hearings.

That however is not the point of this post

She has come to Sydney to run in the Sydney Marathon on this Sunday 30 August.

She has completed 18 marathons around the world including Berlin, Chicago and Cape Town.

Within those are 7 majors – Sydney is the 8th which would put her in an elite category of those who have completed the eight marathon runs around the world.

We are pleased to have assisted Elizabeth in preparation for the Sydney marathon during her visit and wish her success!

Michael Murray and Amanda Bull.
